I am proud to now be associated with two organizations. One is Law Enforcement and Security Consulting (LESC) run by Lieutenant Fred Leland, who has been a Marine and a policeman for 28 years. Fred has taken the work of Col John Boyd and translated it to police and security work. He has also used my book Raising the Bar and applied it to the cognitive development of police officers in the Walpole, MA, police department. It is people like Fred that give me confidence that there are behind the scenes leaders out there doing what is right despite the adversity of the bureaucratic hierarchy. Fred and I have moved our Deciding Under Pressure and Fast workshop to 24 March 2009. Fred and I also just attended the Science of Strategy Institute (SOSI) workshop held in Las Vegas NV. The LESC focus is to adapt and translate the theories of Sun Tzu, who by the way had a great influence on Col Boyd, to the Law Enforcement and Security Fields, and Fred has done an excellent job of translating theory into reality.
Along with Fred, I also attended a SOSI Trainers meeting which gave me an opportunity to the members of the organization in person. They are a professional group of individuals who love the topic of strategy, as well as teaching the Methods of Sun Tzu’s Art of War in an effort to help organizations make quality decisions on the path to victory, building successful organizations. I also presented a two hour workshop from Deciding Under Pressure and Fast to share with the group my methods of teaching adaptability as outlined in the book Raising the Bar. The Science of Strategy Institute is moving forward with state of the art training methods to include, online training and live training workshops, to teach classical front line strategy through their STARS Program. STARS stands for “Sun Tzu’s Adaptive Response System” a 2500 year old system of strategy that works and has stood the test of time. The Science of Strategy Institutes founder Gary Gigliardi has been teaching Sun Tzu’s system for over 25 years to business and organizations around the world.
As the worldwide interest in Sun Tzu’s strategies has grown Gary has begun to license qualified organizations and people to use and develop the Science of Strategy Institutes materials. I am proud to be a member and involved in this effort to bring strategic training to those looking to find the path to quality decisions and seizing high probability opportunities.
