Jim,

Thanks for the correction. My brain sometimes operates faster than my typing, and I make errors like that.

These days people just wanna avoid gettin' their a** burnt.Too s*** scared to make any decisions that may affect their jobs and careers.

Common phenomena everywhere.

Nothin' to unite people anymore.Only mutual interest seems to work.

The character issue is of great concern and your last two posts on the topic shed some valuable insight into leadership and character... For those of us who strive to make change in our chosen professions the goal is to influence through personal character by doing as you stated; the right thing for the right reasons. As well, we must develop and possess an "organizational character" where ethical values are the norm and the objectives of the organization are priority over any one individual...

Character is built in this type of organization because we win and lose as a unit, team, organization... Think; the best unit you have ever been part of gelled and held each other accountable, period... You trained together; conducted missions together, you won together and lost together all feeling the joy and satisfaction of success or the pains and sorrow of failure and then the determination as a cohesive unit to do better next time out... In this type of unit character was a team effort and you craved to go out and prove you had what it takes to get the job done. Not as an individual but as a team... "Mutual Trust" was the cornerstone that built the organizational character in these types of units. This type of cohesive environment also does a lot to eliminating the "zero defects" mentality that some of today's leaders possess... Could it be when individual(S) possess character they understand the meaning of accountability as, selfless verses selfish?
